Let’s talk about the world’s most famous questionaire startup. I’m kidding. (Maybe.)
At the regular Shoptalk panel last week with Walmart Labs and Rent the Runway, Stitch Fix‘ ‘algorithm’ boss Eric Colson didn’t get to talk much about what they are up to at the moment. At the parallel Code Commerce conference -Recode to the rescue-, Stitch Fix provided more insights.
Personalisation is the big theme at Stitch Fix. According to Eric Colson, Stitch Fix is also using its database, to provide its customers something new and unexpected. Built-in serendipity, so to speak.
The company’s private labels are used to bring prices and collections to the customers that are not available in this manner on the market. (And who, in theory, is better equipped to know what its customers grave than Stitch Fix?)
To get a better sense of how Stitch Fix is deploying data, have a look at this ‘algorithms tour’ by Stitch Fix (“How data science is woven into the fabric of Stitch Fix”):
