Walmart’s Tech Incubator Gets Jenny Fleiss, Co-Founder of Rent The Runway, to Join

Store No. 8

Money makes the world go ’round?

From the official blog post announcement:

[…]we are thrilled to announce today that Jenny Fleiss will join us as Co-founder and CEO of our first portfolio company. This new company will develop highly-personalized, one-to-one shopping experiences.

Jenny is a trailblazer in her field and has spent her career advancing ideas that have shaped retail as we know it today. As Co-founder of Rent the Runway, she saw the expansion of the company into a globally recognizable brand and pioneered a new retail model. Under Jenny’s leadership, this new company will be a jumping off point for Store No 8’s mission to shape the future of commerce.

Walmart’s new tech incubator “Store No. 8” launched at this year’s Shoptalk conference.

Store No. 8 is the third pillar in Walmart’s new online approach next to Jet.com and the holding of online companies that gets created right now through acquisitions.

Rent the Runway, the “Netflix for Dresses”, made headlines earlier this year by according to the company becoming profitable thanks mainly to new subscription products.
